Travel Grant Application is now closed!
Application for a Travel Grant: The Congress is sponsoring a Travel Grant Program to help young people to attend the Congress on Root and Tuber Crops in Nanning, China, January 18-22, 2016. Candidates will have to apply on-line, their candidature will be reviewed by a Travel Grant Program Committee and selected candidates will be granted a fellowship to attend the Congress. The fellowship will contribute to cover part of the expenses and the candidates will be responsible for finding the necessary complement.
The way to proceed: Candidates will have to fill the registration form on-line and they will have to provide a short bio to support their candidature. If selected, the candidates will have to formally accept the fellowship, and the granted resources will then be allocated to the grantees.
Deadline to apply for a fellowship: The application for a Congress Travel Grant fellowship is April 15, 2015. The application system will be closed on June 1, 2015.
Who can apply? Any scientist, developer, communicator, working on root and tuber crops is eligible provided that he/she is under the age of 45 before the end of 2015. Applicants having already part of the resources to attend (plane ticket?) will have a greater chance of obtaining a partial fellowship.
What will the full fellowship provide? The full fellowship will provide an economy class ticket, the registration fees, and the hotel accommodation for the duration of the Congress (6 days). All candidates will be responsible for obtaining a visa to go to China and will have to cover all other expenses (local transportation in the country of origin, taxi, meals…).
What will a partial fellowship provide? A partial fellowship will cover the registration fees, and the hotel accommodation for the duration of the Congress (6 days). All candidates will be responsible for obtaining a visa to go to China and will have to cover all other expenses (plane ticket, local transportation in the country of origin, taxi, meals…).
What are the obligations of the fellows? Candidates granted with a fellowship will have the obligation to participate to the 6 days of the Congress, they will have to present a poster or an oral presentation, and they will have to provide a one page report explaining what they gained from attending the Congress. Fellows may be requested to share a room with another fellow.
Cancellation policy: Candidates who will be granted a fellowship, in case of an issue to get a visa or for any other reasons, rendering them incapable to attend the Congress will have to communicate their incapacity to attend in the shortest delay, so that the fellowship could be awarded to another person. Failure to do so, and absence at the Congress will automatically remove their name for travel grants in future conferences.
Please do not wait and apply as soon as Travel Grant Registration is opened. There will be a limited number of fellowships!
